MIAMI COUNTY ACCIDENT 

MIAMI COUNTY - Saturday evening, at approximately 6:30, officers from the State Police and Miami County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on Miami County Road 500 South at County Road 550 East, which injured six people.

Preliminary investigation by the State Police, has revealed that 48 year old Stacie E. Justice from Kokomo, was driving a minivan eastbound on County Road 500 South. The state police say She allegedly failed to yield for cross traffic at a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 550 East. Justice drove into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by 28 year old Roberta A. Richard from Marion. The van was struck in the passenger side ejecting 15 year old Destiny Brown and 14 year old Whitney Davenport, both from Kokomo, from the van.

Brown and Richard were airlifted from the crash scene by Samaritan Helicopter to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Richard suffered severe head trauma and is in serious condition. Brown is also listed in serious condition. Brandy Thompson, a passenger in the Dodge, was transported by ambulance to Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru, with a complaint of pain.

Four teenage passengers in the minivan were transported to Dukes Memorial Hospital with various non-life threatening injuries. Justice's six year old son, a front seat passenger in the van, was not injured. Justice was wearing a seat belt; however, her five passengers were not restrained with a seat belt or child safety seat. Thompson was wearing a seat belt, but investigators have yet to determine if Richard was properly restrained.

This is an ongoing investigation.
