WINTER PLAN MOVES FORWARD

CASS COUNTY - A preliminary draft of a winter weather plan for the Cass County Highway Department has been put together. Superintendent Steve Easley says now, officials are looking for some feedback. According to Easley, the plan outlines the priority snow routes on designated roads when winter weather events of significance occur. One of the other aspects of the plan is hours of work flexibility. Under the proposal, when the situation warrants, hours of work will be modified to have employees working only a normal eight hour day. Steve Easley is pleased with the way the roads have been cleared during the first few snow events of the season.

MAPPING MOVES FORWARD

CASS COUNTY - After months of discussion, the Cass County Commissioners have agreed to pass along certain information to the state, that will allow the County to participate in a G-I-S mapping system, and add additional layers to the state map. That follows a presentation from Rex Jones, the County Vendor with W-T-H. Commissioner Dave Arnold says the Commissioners received all of the information they needed to make a decision. The information Cass County will provide, includes parcel numbers, addresses, along with roads and county boundaries. Approximately 15,000 dollars in grant money will be available to Cass County, through participation in the mapping plan. If the state wants additional information from Cass County in the future, approval would also be needed by the commissioners.
