			<title>LOOKING FOR WW II VETERANS NAMES</title>

			<description><![CDATA[CASS COUNTY -   Labor Day weekend will mark the final countdown on gathering names to be listed on the new Roll of Honor monument currently under construction in front of the Logansport City Building.  Any WWII veteran who enlisted or was drafted from Cass County between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946 is eligible.  All WWII veterans who were listed on the original Roll of Honor will automatically be engraved on the new black marble panels.  A special star will designate those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. <br /><br />Elizabeth McQuinn, a volunteer for the Cass County Veteran&#039;s Council, will be at the American Legion Post on Burlington Avenue, in Logansport from 10am to 8pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and from 10am - 6pm on Monday to answer questions and distribute the remaining nameplates.  There are still 2,200 original wooden nameplates available to the veterans, their families and loved ones.  To check on a name, stop by the American Legion this weekend, call 702-0147 or e-mail her.  <br /><br />The black marble was ordered three months ago and has just arrived in Cincinnati.  The engraving by Sandy Henry, from Precision Design, in Galveston, will begin in two weeks.  A date for the re-dedication of the Roll of Honor will be announced later.<br /> <br />]]></description>

			<title>STOP LEADS TO DRUG BUST</title>

			<description><![CDATA[Tippecanoe County - On August 26, at approximately 3:16 p.m., an Indiana state trooper patrolling a designated high crash area on I-65 near the 170 mile marker observed a 2000 Nissan Maximum following another vehicle too closely. The trooper initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as 27 year old Israel A. Pedroza, from Chicago.  There was also a female passenger, identified as 24 year old Jessica S. Hill, also from Chicago, and Hill&#039;s three-year-old daughter in the vehicle. <br /><br />During the traffic stop the officer became suspicious. Further investigation led to a vehicle search in which the trooper allegedly found a misdemeanor amount of marijuana. A continued search of the Nissan allegedly revealed two hidden compartments, which were controlled electronically. Each compartment purportedly contained approximately one kilogram of heroin.  <br /><br />Pedroza and Hill were taken into custody to face class A felony charges for possession of heroin with intent to deliver and dealing heroin. Hill faces an additional felony charge for possession of marijuana with a previous conviction. She also faces a misdemeanor charge for having a minor in a place where controlled substances were unlawfully present. Pedroza faces a misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana under 30 grams. They both were incarcerated in the Tippecanoe County Jail. Their bonds, which they have already posted, were set at $50,000 each. Hill&#039;s daughter was placed into the custody of the Tippecanoe Child Protective Services.  <br /><br />According to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency the heroin has a street value of approximately $500,000. <br />]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[CASS COUNTY - A 19 year old Camden resident was seriously injured in a two vehicle accident near Clymers. According to the Cass County Sheriff&#039;s Department, authorities received the call to State Road 25 South at Clymers to the report of an accident with injuries, at 11:55 Monday night. The Shreriff&#039;s Department indicates that 19 year old Fredrick Reid from Camden was traveling North on 25 South, when his vehicle veered left of center and collided with a semi driven by 31 year old Camron Martin from Logansport. Reid was extracated from his vehicle and was flown to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne. At last check he was listed in critical condition. <br /><br />]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<br />LOGANSPORT - The Logansport Memorial Hospital Foundation has announced the winners of the 2010 George Poor Scholarship. A total of $3,000.00 was awarded this year in honor of the late George Poor, who was Logansport Memorial Hospital&#039;s CEO from 1989 to 1999 and believed education bettered the individual and the institution where he or she is employed. <br /><br />LMHF awarded scholarships to nine Logansport Memorial Hospital employees pursuing degrees and accreditation for the betterment of themselves and L-M-H. The 2010 recipients include Teresa Ann Coppernoll, Rebekah Foerman, Sara Hardy, Ginger Hines, Brenda Hollis, Rachelle Gordon, Lyndsey Kasten, Tracey Kline, and Megan Meinert. L-M-H-F considers it an honor to present these scholarships, which may be used for tuition, books, or associated class expenses for any course of study that would benefit the employee in his/her position at Logansport Memorial Hospital. <br /><br />The George Poor Scholarship is funded largely by employee contributions generated by the Annual LMHF Employee Campaign.<br />]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[CASS COUNTY - Special Olympics Cass County will host its annual golf outing Sept. 22 at Dykeman Park Golf Course. Lunch will be served at noon and the shotgun start will be at 1:00. The event is open to teams of four. Prizes will be given for the longest drive and closest to the pin and the top three teams, with the first-place team taking home $300.  <br /><br />Sponsorships are also needed, including corporate, hole and team sponsorships as well as door prizes.
